Colonial elegance overlooking the Indian Ocean
Nestled among tropical gardens and one of the most iconic beaches on Mauritius’s west coast,
the 5-star Sugar Beach Mauritius recaptures the charm of the island’s historic plantations and reinterprets it with a contemporary twist. Its grand
Manor House, elegant white pavilions, and the ocean as a backdrop create a retreat where days are spent swimming in turquoise waters, enjoying culinary experiences, playing golf, and watching long sunsets over the Indian Ocean. A revitalized Mauritian classic—bright and sophisticated—where the island’s history meets the joy of living by the sea.
What Makes Sugar Beach Unique
- A grand mansion overlooking the Indian Ocean · Its architecture, inspired by the old colonial plantations of Mauritius, and its white pavilions set among the gardens give it a highly distinctive character.
- Flic-en-Flac Beach · It lies across from one of the longest beaches on the west coast, sheltered by a large lagoon and particularly inviting for long days by the sea.
- West Coast Sunsets · Its location offers a direct view of sunsets over the Indian Ocean—one of the great perks of staying in this part of Mauritius.
- Two golf courses included · Free and unlimited green fees—up to one round per day—at Île aux Cerfs Golf Club and Tamarina Golf Club, two very different courses that let you combine golf by the ocean with the landscapes of the island’s western region.
- A resort for couples and families · Despite its elegant ambiance, Sugar Beach is not an overly formal hotel: it combines romantic spaces, a full range of sports and wellness activities, and services tailored to families.
- Well-located for exploring the west · Flic-en-Flac offers easy access to places like Tamarin, Black River, Chamarel, and the Black River Gorges National Park, making it possible to combine beach time with exploring the interior.
The Hotel
Sugar Beach Mauritius 5*SUP, part of the Sunlife group, is located in Wolmar, Flic-en-Flac, on the sunny west coast of Mauritius. Inspired by the architecture of the old plantations, the resort is organized around its elegant Manor House and 16 Creole-style buildings set amid expansive tropical gardens and facing the Indian Ocean.
The hotel features 238 rooms and suites, all with a private balcony or terrace and views of the gardens or the ocean. Among them are 20 Premium Suites and 2 Executive Suites. Stretching in front of the resort is more than a kilometer of white-sand beach, perfectly positioned to enjoy the sunsets on the west coast.
Its dining options include three main restaurants: Le Patio, featuring buffet-style breakfasts and dinners and live cooking stations; Buddha-Bar Beach, located right on the beach and specializing in sushi, fish, and seafood; and Maré Maré Beach Restaurant, with a casual Mediterranean atmosphere, serving tapas, antipasti, and pizzas. The selection is rounded out by various bars and venues such as Le Patio Bar and The Tea Room. Guests also have access to the restaurants, bars, and select facilities at the neighboring La Pirogue, significantly expanding their options during their stay.
Its facilities include two swimming pools, GLOW Spa & Wellness, a fully equipped gym, tennis courts, a Kids Club, activities for teens, and a wide range of land and water sports, including snorkeling, windsurfing, and glass-bottom boat tours.
For golf enthusiasts, Sugar Beach offers free and unlimited green fees—with a maximum of one round per day—at Île aux Cerfs Golf Club and Tamarina Golf Club, in addition to hotel-arranged transportation to both courses. This is a particularly appealing combination that allows guests to play at two completely different courses without sacrificing a beach vacation on the west coast.
Sugar Beach is about an hour's drive from the international airport, and its location in Flic-en-Flac is also ideal for exploring the western and southwestern parts of Mauritius.
