Itinerary

Elegance, privacy, and nature define the essence of Constance Prince Maurice, one of the most exclusive hotels in Mauritius. Located on a private peninsula on the northeast coast, the resort is nestled among tropical gardens, tranquil beaches, mangroves, and the sheltered waters of its lagoon.

With just 89 suites and villas, it offers an intimate atmosphere and exceptionally attentive service, complemented by excellent dining options, a renowned wine selection, and exclusive access to two 18-hole golf courses. A sophisticated retreat for discovering Mauritius from a more tranquil and exclusive perspective.

What Makes the Prince Maurice Unique

  • A 60-hectare private peninsula The hotel is situated on a private peninsula on the northeast coast of Mauritius, surrounded by a lagoon, tropical vegetation, and mangroves. This setting provides a rare sense of seclusion and privacy, enhanced by its relatively small capacity: 89 suites and villas.
  • Le Barachois, its defining feature It is probably the most recognizable feature of the Prince Maurice. A long pontoon winds through the mangroves to five floating platforms set atop a natural fish reserve, where Le Barachois is located. Constance currently promotes it as the only floating seafood restaurant in Mauritius. Next to it is the Floating Bar, suspended over the calm waters of the Barachois.
  • One of the great wineries of the Indian Ocean Wine plays a much more prominent role here than at most resorts. The wine cellar covers 175 m² and houses more than 25,000 bottles and around 1,900 international varieties, with a private tasting area for up to ten people. The hotel also organizes tastings led by its sommeliers, wine pairings, and wine-tasting experiences.
  • Suites and villas on stilts Not all accommodations are oriented simply towards the beach. Some Junior Suites and Villas on Stilts are built directly over the Barachois Lagoon, blending into the landscape of the lagoon and mangroves. The villas on stilts reach 130 m² , a particularly unique type of accommodation within Mauritian hotel offerings.
  • Two championship golf courses included in the experience Guests have access to Legend and Links, Constance’s two 18-hole courses. Unlimited green fees, as well as a golf cart and equipment, are included—making the Prince Maurice an ideal choice for combining luxury accommodations with golf, without having to stay at a large, golf-specific resort.
  • The Princely Villa: Prince Maurice taken to its highest expression With 350 m² , three terraces facing different parts of the ocean, private heated pools, and Villa Master service, it is the hotel's most exclusive accommodation. It consists of two Junior Suites and a villa and can accommodate up to six adults and four children.

The Hotel

Located on a private 60-hectare peninsula on the northeast coast of Mauritius, Constance Prince Maurice is an exclusive 5-star resort and member of The Leading Hotels of the World, designed as an intimate retreat amid tropical gardens, mangroves, and a protected lagoon. The hotel features 89 suites and villas, some located directly on the beach and others built on stilts over the Barachois. It features two swimming pools, a beach, the Constance Spa, a fitness center, tennis courts, and a wide range of water sports, including paddle tennis, kayaking, windsurfing, kitesurfing, and scuba diving. Golf enthusiasts have access to Constance's two 18-hole championship courses, the Legend Golf Course and the Links Golf Course, located near Constance Belle Mare Plage. The resort features 3 restaurants, 3 bars, and an exceptional wine cellar, as well as room service, concierge services, and various spaces for private events. Its limited capacity, the spaciousness of its facilities, and the resort’s integration into its natural surroundings create a particularly peaceful and private atmosphere.

Dining Experiences

  • Archipel · Constance’s Cuisine with a Mauritian Twist The Prince Maurice’s main restaurant combines French-inspired techniques with Mauritian ingredients and flavors. Opening onto the garden, the pool, and the ocean, it offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, featuring à la carte gourmet cuisine and occasional themed evenings. At the helm is Executive Chef Michael Scioli, whose cuisine places special emphasis on local ingredients and the island’s flavors.
  • Le Barachois · Dining on the lagoon The hotel’s most iconic experience. A lighted wooden walkway winds through the mangroves until it reaches five floating platforms set atop a fish sanctuary. Le Barachois is open exclusively for dinner and offers cuisine centered on seafood and the flavors of the Indian Ocean. Arriving a little early allows you to start the evening at the Floating Bar and watch the sunset over the lagoon.
  • Asian · Flavors of Asia by the Lagoon A more casual dining option featuring Asian cuisine, including sushi, sashimi, maki, Japanese specialties, and Chinese dim sum. Located next to the Laguna Bar, it is open for both lunch and dinner.
  • The Wine Cellar · Wine as Part of the Journey Wine plays a special role in the Prince Maurice experience. Its wine cellar houses more than 25,000 bottles from around the world, carefully curated by sommeliers. Tastings and pairings can be arranged, turning the wine cellar into an experience in its own right—not merely a place where the wine collection is stored.

Experiences You Can't Miss

  • Two courses, two ways to experience golf Just a few minutes from the hotel, Legend and Links await you—two 18-hole championship courses with very different characters. Guests at the Prince Maurice enjoy exceptional golfing conditions, including transportation to the courses and the option to book lessons with professionals.
  • Sommelier’s Secret · A Private Tasting Step inside the Prince Maurice’s exceptional wine cellar, guided by its sommeliers. Sommelier’s Secret offers a private tasting of a carefully curated selection of white, red, and sweet wines, accompanied by canapés and explained by the hotel’s experts. An experience designed not only for connoisseurs but also for those who want to discover new wines and better understand the art of pairing.
  • Sailing Toward the Sunset Hop aboard a catamaran and watch the light change over the Indian Ocean as evening falls. A peaceful sail to discover the Mauritian coastline from the sea and enjoy one of the most special moments of the day.
  • Discover the Indian Ocean underwater Reefs, tropical fish, and volcanic seabeds make the waters off Mauritius a magnificent setting for diving. The hotel partners with a PADI 5-Star IDC & Eco Dive Resort, offering options for both beginners and experienced divers. Snorkeling trips can also be arranged.
  • The Indian Ocean for the more active The lagoon invites you to try Hobie Cat sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding, or water skiing. For those looking for a bit more adrenaline, kitesurfing and parasailing experiences can also be arranged, as well as guided stand-up paddleboarding tours.
  • Fishing in Mauritian Waters Set out into the Indian Ocean for a day of fishing. From deep-sea fishing trips to fly fishing, this is an opportunity to discover another side of the waters surrounding Mauritius—and, for enthusiasts, to devote an entire day to their passion.
  • Wellness Tailored to You Surrounded by frangipani trees and tropical vegetation, Constance Spa invites you to spend a few hours focusing on your well-being. Massages, facials, and body treatments, along with a sauna, steam room, and relaxation areas, can be combined with private yoga sessions or personalized training.
  • In Search of Dolphins and Whales Head out to sea accompanied by professionals to try to spot dolphins and, at certain times of the year, cetaceans that travel through Mauritian waters. An experience in the heart of nature that can combine sailing, marine wildlife viewing, and snorkeling, depending on sea conditions and the day’s sightings.
  • Discover the Most Authentic Mauritius Beyond its beaches, Mauritius is home to villages, markets, mountain landscapes, plantations, and an extraordinary mix of cultures. The hotel can arrange a private day trip with a vehicle, driver, and guide, tailoring the itinerary to your interests so you can explore the island at your own pace

What to See in the Surrounding Area

The Flacq Market Less than 5 km from the hotel is one of Mauritius’s best-known markets and the island’s largest open-air market. Tropical fruits, vegetables, spices, textiles, and small stalls offer a glimpse into a much more everyday and local side of Mauritius. Sagar Shiv Mandir Just over a kilometer from the Prince Maurice, this Hindu temple is located on a small islet surrounded by the lagoon and mangroves. Its location and peaceful atmosphere make it a worthwhile stop for gaining insight into the island’s cultural and religious diversity. Belle Mare and its long beach About 6 km away lies Belle Mare, one of the best-known beaches on the east coast. With its white sand, turquoise lagoon, and kilometers of coastline, it’s well worth a visit—even if your hotel has an excellent beach of its own. Bras d’Eau, the most natural side of To the north lies Bras d’Eau National Park, an interesting option for those who want to leave the beach scenery behind for a few hours and explore the vegetation in this part of the island. Île aux Cerfs and the east coast Further south, the coast leads to Trou d’Eau Douce, the main starting point for exploring Île aux Cerfs. Boating, beaches, water sports, and golf make for a full day of activities.

Our recommendation

Don't just stay at the resort. The Prince Maurice’s location makes it easy to combine your days of relaxation with a morning at the Flacq market, a visit to a Hindu temple, or a day exploring the east coast. It’s a great way to discover the everyday, multicultural Mauritius—deeply connected to the sea—that exists beyond its grand hotels.

I highly recommend it—the service is direct, clear, and friendly. Sylvia, Jaume, and Sergi are lovely. Small, well-organized groups. Santa, our guide, is the best. And Madagascar—with its lemurs, its baobabs, its people, and its landscapes—stole my heart; I don't know which one to choose. A dream come true!! We're really looking forward to going back and exploring more parts of the island. And we'll definitely be doing it with Indigo Be!!!

Indigo Be is a travel agency run by young professionals who love Madagascar and know it inside and out, and who share their passion and enthusiasm for the country with travelers. Our guide, Jaume, has ensured that everything ran smoothly day after day, thanks to his efficiency and kindness. Thanks to the entire team of professionals at Indigo Be, and a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Jaume "for a job well done." A big hug!!!!!

A unique, surprising, and unforgettable island
Madagascar—it sounds like a faraway place, an animated movie, and impossible animals. It’s all that, and also a little-visited island nation that exudes African spirit, softened by Asian influences. Canoe down a river through jungle canyons and sleep on its beaches, safe from crocodiles; venture deep into the jungle and listen to the sounds of its most distinctive animals, the lemurs; dive among tropical fish with the sound of humpback whales in the background; strolling at sunset along an avenue lined with giant baobabs; discovering breathtaking rock formations shaped like thousands of needles; savoring seafood seasoned with a touch of French influence; or simply strolling along a beach, waiting for the fishermen to return. All of that is Madagascar. Madagascar promises a break from it all, adventure, and exoticism... and with Indigo Be, you can have it all! Thank you for being such wonderful hosts on this unique, amazing, and unforgettable island.
