Madagascar ESENCIAS DEL SUR
ItineraryRates and DatesExtensions+ Info
The Esencias del Sur route is ideal for a first approach to the island. We will make a brief but intense foray to the east before descending to the south of the country in search of the island's largest lemur, the Indri, through the rainforests of the Andasibe National Park (Analamazaotra). Listening to the Indri's cry is an experience that we recommend to live at least once in a lifetime :)
After this experience you will think that little else can surprise you, because it is not so, I promise. The descent towards the south will take us through the fertile "Highlands", to discover colonial towns such as Antsirabe and the rainforests of Ranomafana, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO and habitat of precious lemurs such as the Propithecus Edwardsii. To get to know the agricultural region of vakinankaratra and its rice fields, in a cultural immersion with the Merina ethnic group (although they prefer to be called "vakinankaratra"). We will continue our adventure in Betsileo territory between tea plantations in Shambavy and vineyards in Ambalavao. We will walk through the forest of the Anja Reserve, where giant granite blocks hide part of the history of the region. And, of course, its graceful ring-tailed lemurs. Finally, we will enter the gorges of the Isalo National Park and enjoy waterfalls, natural pools and an extensive savannah visible from the famous "window" of Isalo. In this stage we will leave the arid lands of the south to reach the coast, next to the Mozambique Channel where the baobabs of the Reniala Reserve await us. From here you can create a tailor-made trip according to your preferences, through the various beach options or the extension to the Avenue of the Baobabs.

On the way we will observe the summit of Mount Ibity, the third highest mountain on the island with 2,345m, a waterfall and a natural pool where we can swim (in our austral summer). Return to our vehicles that will take us back to Antsirabe. After lunch tour in Pousse-Pousse (similar to the rickshaws of India) to tour the historic center of the city.
Just a few words to thank you for your efforts and patience. A phenomenal trip that already has me wanting to come back. Delighted by the destination, the selection of activities and the organization. Nomad Photo Expeditions.

I totally recommend it, direct, clear and familiar treatment Sylvia, Jaume and Sergi are charming.
Small, well-organized groups.

And Madagascar, with its lemurs, baobabs, people and landscapes, has stolen my heart, I don't know which one to choose.
A dream come true!
We can't wait to come back and discover other parts of the island. And certainly with Indigo Be!

A unique, surprising and unforgettable island
Madagascar sounds a bit like an animated film and impossible animals. But it's true, and it's also an island-country that doesn't attract many tourists, oozing African sap softened by Asian touches.
Descend a river between jungle canyons and sleep on its crocodile-protected beaches; sink into the jungle and listen to the sounds of its most characteristic animals, the lemurs; dive among tropical fish with the sound of humpback whales in the background ; take a sunset stroll along an avenue lined with giant baobabs; discover impressive rock formations in the shape of thousands of needles; taste seafood seasoned with French-influenced flavors; or simply stroll along a beach waiting for the fishermen to arrive. All this is Madagascar.
Madagascar promises relaxation, adventure and exoticism... and Indigo Be delivers just that!
Thank you for being wonderful hosts on this unique, surprising and unforgettable island.
