Our emblematic “Madagascar Overland” route explores in depth two of the most unique ecosystems of the island, the tsingys of Bemaraha and the jungle of Andasibe. From Antananarivo we will travel to the Analamazaotra National Park in Andasibe to go in search of the Indri lemur as well as other endemic species of fauna and flora. On our return to the capital we will visit the Ambohimanga Palace and fly to the wild west of Madagascar where we will experience one of the most awaited moments of the trip, the encounter with the imposing Avenue of the Baobabs. The long and dusty tracks of the west will take us to the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park and the Tsangajoly salt pans. On the way back to Morondava we will stop at the Kirindy Forest Reserve to observe the famous Fossa. We will sail to the village of Bethany among mangroves to meet the Sakalava ethnic group, a necessary cultural immersion to learn about the close relationship between man and sea in this corner of western Madagascar.

Breakfast and departure to Andasibe National Park. Lunch (free) in the city of Moramanga and visit of its lively market. Continuation to Andasibe National Park. Installation at the lodge. At the scheduled time, night safari in the Private Reserve, where we will appreciate various species of endemic and nocturnal wildlife.

ANDASIBE NATIONAL PARK
Breakfast and early departure to Analamazaotra National Park where we will have a walking tour of ± 4 hours to observe the largest lemur of the island, the famous Indri-Indri. After lunch, visit theMitsinjoPark, where we will be able to see other groups of Indri, as well as other species of lemurs. In the afternoon, walk through the small village of Andasibe to meet the Bezanozano ethnic group and return to the lodge.

Early breakfast and return to Antananarivo. Arrival in the capital, lunch and visit of the city center “Tanà City Tour”: Soarano Station, Independence Avenue, neighborhoods of Isoraka, Analakely… and panoramic view from the famous “Haute-Ville”. After the visit, check-in at the hotel.

Breakfast and early departure to transfer by 4×4 track to the Tsimafana jetty to then cross by ferry the great Tsiribihina River in its widest and most navigated area and reach the city of Belo Sur Tsiribihina, where we will have lunch. In the afternoon continuation to Bekopaka and installation in the lodge.

BEMARAHA TSINGY NATIONAL PARK TREKKING
Breakfast and canoeing in the gorges of the Manambolo River. Return to Bekopaka, lunch in a popular restaurant and afternoon visit of the “small” Tsingy of Bemaraha. Easy walk in the Small Tsingy of ± 2 hours in which we will penetrate these unique Jurassic limestone formations in the world and have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Return to the lodge.

DAY 8
BEMARAHA TSINGY NATIONAL PARK TREKKING
Transfer by 4×4 to the entrance of the Great Tsingy, and start of the trekking to visit the “Great Tsingys of Bemaraha” (via ferrata, medium difficulty), unique wonder in the world. Trekking (Andamozavaky circuit) of ± 4h of duration, in which we cross various labyrinths and caves, as well as gorges and suspension bridges. This is a via ferrata in which we will walk secured by harnesses. After picnic lunch we will make a second trekking in the area known as Ranotsara of ± 2h. Trekking strictly forbidden for people with vertigo or fear of heights and not recommended for people who are not in good physical shape or suffer from obesity problems. Return to the lodge in the afternoon.

BEKOPAKA / TSANGAJOLY
Breakfast and very early return by 4×4 on the dusty track of western Madagascar. We will cross the Manambolo and Tsiribihina rivers by ferry barges. Arrival at noon at the Tsangajoy salt pans, where we will settle in the lodge. In the afternoon, possibility of activities such as visit of the salt pans, bird watching, kayak tours, etc.
Breakfast. Walking tour of the Kirindy Forest Reserve, where we will see different species of lemurs, as well as the possibility of observing the largest carnivorous mammal of the island, the famous fossa. On the way visit the “Sacred Baobab” and the “Baobab amoroso”. At sunset arrival at the famous “Avenue of the Baobabs” of Morondava where we will see the spectacular Adansonia Grandidieri. Sunset and arrival at the hotel, located on the peninsula of Nosy Kely.

Breakfast and departure in traditional canoes to the fishing village of the Betania peninsula. An immersion in the Sakalava culture where we will learn about the daily chores of this ethnic group that lives in total harmony with the sea. Return to the hotel.

All our departures called “PRIVATE”, will have all the services exclusively, except for some transfers made by the hotel itself that will be in common with other clients.
The order of the visits and excursions can be modified according to local constraints (air schedules, runway or road conditions, for example). If certain visits and/or excursions cannot be carried out for any reason beyond our control, we will try to substitute them whenever possible.
Due to the high demand during Easter, Christmas, New Year’s Eve and the months of August, September, October and November, please book as far in advance as possible as places are very limited.
CHARACTERISTICS OF OUR TRIPS
Our trips are designed from knowledge, we have been residents on the island for more than 18 years (2006-2024) and our team carries out more than 17 annual surveys throughout the geography of the island, to verify on the ground the state of parks, trails, hotels, new developments and discover new treasures that are still hidden in our island-continent and that for the moment we try to preserve until we have a policy of environmental protection. Our update is almost daily.
Any tour in Madagascar leaves room for the unexpected, hence we ask for your flexibility in approaching the trip as travelers and not as conventional tourists.
To participate in our trips, a minimum level of physical fitness is required, otherwise you will not be able to enjoy the parks, landscapes, or some of the animist villages farther away from the conventional routes.
Our adventure trips are not for everyone, they are participatory trips, in which you will not be made to row or wash your cutlery, for this we give employment to the local population, however, we want your passage through the island to cause the least possible impact, neither environmental nor social, that is where we ask for your collaboration.
The hotels are varied, from some 5* to simple lodges, depending on the hotel infrastructure. Adventure is not incompatible with comfort, we will never camp (free camping is prohibited in Madagascar, it is only possible in “authorized” places although they do not have any infrastructure similar to a campsite, no toilets or showers) if right next door we have a minimally correct accommodation and that our passage can benefit the local population. We always try to include the best hotels available, but sometimes we are forced to use simple lodges because the location does not have more hotel infrastructure or because it is located in an exceptional place that deserves the stay.
Madagascar does not have a tourist infrastructure like neighboring countries in their safaris, but that gives it the charm of an unspoiled and uncrowded country (150,000 tourists per year). We ask for an open spirit and large doses of patience to our travelers. That way you will enjoy your trip much more.
